Oscar Hernandez, is a denim artist. Every piece in the re/pair collection has passed through his hands. They all carry his stamp of approval, yet are distinctly one-of-a-kind. A lifelong veteran of the garment industry, Oscar first started working with patches as a child. His family would patch their jeans to make them last longer. He fell in love with the finished product: jeans with beautiful textures and layers. The way Oscar approaches his re/pairs shows the care and attention of a true artist. Each patch he uses has a purpose – he selects them to complement the wash and wear of the jean. He wants to understand the history of the jean, before writing the next chapter in its story. He lovingly refers to each piece in the collection as a “beauty,” and like any proud parent, cannot pick a favorite. Crafting re/pairs is his passion. He doesn’t view his work as work, but rather as something that brings him great joy. Each piece from the Re/Pair Re/Done Collection was proudly made by Oscar Hernandez in Downtown Los Angeles.
