We join Ève and Arnaud of ODA Paris in presenting an edit of rare, mid-century pieces for the home. They began as a vintage home goods vendor at one of France’s most respected Flea Markets, Marché Paul Bert in Saint-Ouen. Now, the duo seeks to create atmospheres and find objects that recollect a juxtaposition of contexts, spaces, and elements evoking emotion and fostering new memories.

German ceramics have had a unique history compared to other countries in Europe. Due to isolationism, German ceramics of the interwar period remained stagnant, without influence from Scandinavian, or other countries’, innovations. In the 50s, Bauhaus reappeared, and ceramic inspiration sparked again.

During the 60s, red colors and geometric shapes inspired by architecture became popular. These trends are seen in the Set of Nine Vases (this vase is one of nine), known as “kubus,” or “brick vases.” Zalloni aimed to break out of tradition by creating geometric and patterned pieces inspired by Bauhaus and Op Art. These pieces are a part of Zalloni’s 1960s Zyklon (cyclone) collection. The name refers to the concentric patterns seen on each of the vessels, which brings a dynamic element to the still, but bold, pieces of art.

This piece ships to the USA only, international orders will be cancelled.
